Individuals will receive one-to-one sculpting instruction in water-based clay from Philippe Faraut on the portrait from a live model.
Attending students range from beginners to professional artists. Several lectures and demonstrations, on proportions, anatomy and the use of planes in the construction of the head will be provided. In addition, the course will include exercises and lectures on aging and expressions. The technique of preparation for firing water-based clay will be discussed. Firing services will not be provided during the workshop but students are welcome to keep their sculptures.
All materials are provided for use during the seminar. Class hours are from 9-4:00 daily.
The Hampton Inn at Sarasota/Bradenton airport will offer the Ringling College rate for students who inform them they are attending Philippe's workshop. Art Ovation Hotel will also offer a special rate for Ringling attendees that want a downtown fancier accommodation.
